Vulnerable to lose aid payment

New Guidelines quietly introduced in late July for Government aid under the Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA) will have the impact of cutting aid to a vulnerable segment of society.

Parents of disabled children will no longer be able to have their monthly 179.80 payment backdated.

Health boards frequently fail to inform parents of their right to the allowance, which inevitably causes a delay in the application.
