Dangerous convict - Photo failure putting the public at risk
Despite a garda warning of the dangers that he poses to the public, the failure to ensure that his picture was published in the media is outrageous.
Serving 10 years in Mountjoy for robbery and assault, 27-year-old Ian Stewart from Tallaght escaped while visiting his mother at a hospice in Dublin.
Without a clear image of he looks like, innocent people who might come across him will neither be able to anticipate the danger or alert the gardaí of his whereabouts.
In reality, by not issuing his photograph the prison authorities are not only hindering efforts to track him down, they are putting members of the public at risk.
