THE dictatorial attitude which some health boards appear to adopt towards foster parents is outrageous.

Parents need support, not vilification

In a classic example of officialdom seemingly losing the run of itself, the latest instance saw a mentally disabled boy removed from his home without warning because his foster parents had looked for additional respite from the exhausting burden of constant care.

Instead of subjecting them to the devastating experience of summarily removing children from the home, the authorities should adopt a more compassionate approach towards foster parents.
