Reform of rented sector essential

THE 25th anniversary of Threshold is an outstanding achievement in the lifetime of a body which has given advice and services to hundreds of thousands of people trapped in bad housing, suffering from poverty or teetering on the borderline of homelessness.

Both in terms of its philosophy and the strategy adopted for dealing with housing issues, Threshold is a unique organisation which continues to play an important role.

Regrettably, as its report states, the housing output of local authorities has dwindled while that of the private sector has mushroomed.
