It is reasonable that schools should expect to know what resources are being allocated so teachers appreciate within a suitable time what is expected of them.

It is especially so when the Government, in its Programme for Government, gave a commitment that the number attending infant classes would be reduced to 20.

So far, there is no sign of it being delivered, which is prompting the Irish National Teachers Organisation to consider industrial action at its Easter conference.
