It may be of little consolation to those who fought such a frustrating campaign for the new E60 million Cork School of Music, but some good may eventually come of the appalling inter-departmental management of the project which completely delayed it.

Originally meant to be a flagship public building during Cork’s Capital of European Culture next year, bureaucratic delays means it will not even be ready by then.

The relevant Government departments, Education and Finance, were criticised yesterday by the Comptroller & Auditor General, John Purcell at the Public Accounts Committee, because they failed to get their act together.
