Blood contamination – Victims feel betrayed by department

THE stone-walling, foot-dragging and frustrating inactivity of the Department of Health, in face of the justifiable demands of haemophiliacs for statutory recognition and legal support, typify a Government that is long on promises but short on action.

This is especially the case when it comes to issues that really matter.

As with disabled people and other neglected groups on the margins of society, those infected by contaminated blood products have much cause for grievance.
