Drinking is putting our youth at risk

APART from revealing significant differences in health and lifestyle behaviour between the east of the country and all other regions, a new regional health survey confirms that drinking among schoolchildren continues to be a very serious problem.

Conducted by researchers at NUI Galway, the survey found that alcohol consumption among them is frightening a trend which has not diminished in recent years.

Drinking among boys is high at 46%, however 38% of girls reported being "really drunk" in some regions of the country.
