CONCERNED parents will welcome the decision of the Department of Health to review its policy on stimulant drinks.

Last week’s ruling by the European Court of Justice, which upheld a French ban on Red Bull, the high caffeine drink, caused a spate of queries from parents about its safety.

Given its adverse effects on certain people, the Government should not hesitate to ensure Red Bull is clearly labelled as unsuitable for a range of consumers, including children under 16, pregnant women and individuals who are sensitive to caffeine.
