YESTERDAY’S demonstration by hundreds of Turks outside Leinster House provides a graphic illustration of Ireland’s failure to protect the rights of foreign workers.

The Government must do everything in its power to ensure they now gain full access to bank accounts opened by the controversial Gama group in the Netherlands, where millions of euro were lodged in the names of workers without their knowledge.

Shamefully, they were paid below the rates earned by Irish counterparts on major projects.
