Smokers need help

The publication of another survey on smoking, showing that women who smoke as few as three cigarettes a day double their risk of heart attack or premature death, will give those concerned serious cause to contemplate giving up the habit.

It found that men run similar risks if they smoke six cigarettes or one cigar each day.

Statistically, 30% of all cancers are caused by smoking and 40% of women in Ireland aged between 18 and 24 years smoke, while 31% of all Irish people indulge in the unhealthy habit.
