Special needs cases - Government wrong to go to the courts

The Department of Education spent over €10 million in two years fighting cases brought by parents of children with special needs.

Our culture celebrates parents who fight for the rights of their children, especially children who have been deprived of an equal chance in life through no fault of their own.

The department’s behaviour is an indication of just how much the government is out of touch with the tenor of the people. It is forcing parents to go into court to obtain their children’s rights.
