Tax moves a step in right direction

If his aim was to try to make the tax base broader by netting some sources which hitherto were untouchable, then he has begun well, although some benefits will not accrue to the Exchequer immediately.

The relevant legislation will have to be amended to effect some changes he announced but in the long term the system will begin to be more equitable, although it could be reasonably argued that such a strategy should have been engaged in before now.
