Dempsey must focus on priorities

IT would be more appropriate for Education Minister Noel Dempsey to embark on a trip around the nation’s derelict schools than on the nationwide tour of teacher organisations which got under way last night.

The minister is seldom slow to take up a challenge and deserves some praise for having the grit to put his head above the parapet.

Whether or not teachers turn out in numbers around the country, parents and pupils are hoping the ASTI will respond positively to Mr Dempsey’s crusade to resolve the supervision crisis.
