School of Music – Decision is designed to win votes

THE Government’s decision to finally give the nod to Cork’s new school of music is to be welcomed — but it represents the height of political cynicism.

It’s the election, stupid. That’s the reality, despite Education Minister Noel Dempsey’s attempt to laugh off this suggestion.

There can be no denying the Coalition’s decision has been triggered by its visible alarm at the prospect of facing Independent candidates intending to run on the school issue in the June elections.
