Bus tragedy - Independent inquiry into accident vital

Horrific though Saturday’s bus crash in Dublin was, it was fortuitous that it did not claim more lives than the five unfortunate people who were killed.

Given that it occurred at an exceptionally busy time, it was miraculous that no other lives were lost and the number of injured people was not substantially more than 17, of whom 12 are still hospitalised.

It is disturbing to learn in the aftermath of the crash that concerns were expressed to CIÉ only two weeks ago about of the safety of the same bus stop at Wellington Quay.
