Time to tap into biotech sector

The indications from IDA Ireland concerning the possible loss of thousands of jobs in the information, communications and technology sector is a stark message that Ireland urgently needs to re-focus its employment policy.

There are 300 companies in the sector, providing 45,000 jobs. About one-third of these companies are reckoned to be medium to high risk.

Of these, 30 are high risk. So, depending on how the situation is viewed, between 5,000 and 15,000 jobs are at serious risk in the ICT.
