Health insurance - Age loading will mean price hikes

Given the exorbitant cost to the Exchequer of maintaining the country’s health service, it would certainly be in the national interest to encourage as many people as possible to invest in private health insurance, such as that offered

It is rather perplexing therefore to see that the Government, through the Department of Health, is endeavouring to bring about a situation whereby a loading could be imposed on people who are currently without private insurance but who are, sensibly, considering it as an option.

Seeking EU sanction for such a loading, whereby a person’s age would be a factor in the premium they must pay, would most definitely not be an incentive to people considering private insurance.
