Flynn should be expelled from party

HAVING made a rare and, it has to be said, welcome show of strong leadership in the Judge Brian Curtin controversy, there is now an onus on Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to display the same decisiveness on the question of Beverly Flynn’s membership of the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.

Her immediate expulsion from the party, for conduct unbecoming an elected member of the Oireachtas, is the only option open to Fianna Fáil. Indeed, she should also be asked to resign her Dáil seat.

It would be hard to exaggerate the Mayo deputy's predicament.
