MOST of the scandals currently besetting Fianna Fáil have been inherited from earlier decades, so the party will no doubt welcome the publication of the latest annual review of the implementation of the Programme for Government.

It highlights some positive achievements on the part of the coalition Government.

In particular the Government can point with justifiable pride to the role this country played in the successful presidency of the EU, especially the admission of 10 new states and the agreement of a draft constitution covering the enlarged union.
