Payback for Government dishonesty
Hairline cracks began to appear in Waterford yesterday where a Fianna Fáil city councillor resigned from the party and a PD mayor urged voters to oust the Government. Both are fed up with broken election promises relating to the provision of a radiotherapy unit for the South-East, but which Minister for Health Mícheál Martin ruled out yesterday.
Such a unit is vital for cancer sufferers, who at the moment have to travel to either Cork or Dublin for the ten-minute treatment. The lack of such a service is especially distressing for breast cancer sufferers who need intensive, daily treatment over several weeks.
