Darfur disaster - Ahern must continue GOAL’s work

GOAL’S John O’Shea has called for action from Taoiseach Bertie Ahern which could help resolve the worst humanitarian disaster in the world today.

It could not be a more timely call as the UN Security Council is poised to discuss the tragedy of Darfur.

As a small but influential nation, Ireland has an important role to play in convincing the UN to intervene in this crisis which has so far cost 50,000 lives and made over one million people homeless.
