Belated plan must be acted upon

The Government’s bold bid to grasp the National Spatial Strategy nettle deserves to be welcomed.

However, the strategy is so ambitious and so widely spread across the country, it is highly questionable if this belated attempt to counter-balance Dublin’s sprawl will succeed.

Bearing the hallmarks of a public relations exercise, the Coalition’s strategy ensures there will be more winners than losers.
