You work in Mercy University Hospital with an on-call commitment to Cork University Hospital. You did most of your training in Ireland with the exception of a fellowship with London’s air ambulance at the Royal London Hospital in Whiteside. What can be done to keep people like you at home, in whom a great deal of money and time was invested?

I think it’s difficult, to be honest. The perception is that conditions are pretty difficult to work in and the alternative is to go to the southern hemisphere, for example, where the work-life balance appears to be better
