Republicans exploited the threat of terrorism to get George W Bush re-elected in 2004, and they will do it again by claiming Democrats are weak, says Bill Schneider.

FEAR is back. The race for the White House looks like 2004, when terrorism doomed Democrats. It was the first presidential election after 9/11. Democrat John Kerry was challenging President George W Bush’s re-election.
