Never too late to learn from your mistakes

DESPITE recent success in international rankings, NUI Galway has made most headlines in recent months over ongoing controversy about a lack of promotions for female academics, an issue with which there is still dissatisfaction on campus.

Prompted by publicity around the successful gender discrimination case brought by botanist Micheline Sheehy Skeffington over her non-promotion in 2008, the issue has become a major one for university management.
