Excuses, excuses as guidelines on mortgages delayed

Guidelines on how far the banks can go in their dealings with customers seeking to change the terms of their mortgages will not now be published until the week after next.

Already, though, the Taoiseach and some ministers are making excuses for them and trying to distance themselves from the powers — described as “draconian” — that they themselves are handing to the banks.
