Employers to cash in with jobs plan

It’s catchy, no doubt. But questions remain about how it will operate. Chief among the “disruptive reforms” launched yesterday in the Government’s action plans for jobs 2013 was this jobs incentive for businesses to recruit the unemployed.

As many may remember, the SSIA special savings scheme at the start of the boom saw the State give one euro for every four invested. The jobs scheme will see employers get one euro of every four paid for a recruit. The sums are slightly different, but the attraction of the idea is basically the same. Keep it simple, get companies to sign up. But will it work? How much can be exhausted from that kitty to get people off the dole queues?
