Inalienable rights?

OUTSIDE the Lisbrook House refugee centre on Galway City’s Headford Rd is parked an old red double-decker bus which has seen better days.

Inalienable rights?

On the side is written “Galway City and County Childcare Committee” and it looks weather-beaten, a bit smudged, but in many ways it is similar to the centre itself — it mightn’t be the best available, but at least it’s something.

Esther (pseudonym), a resident of the centre since 2008, secured the bus from the Galway Childcare Committee so it could be used as a pre-school building for the younger children at the centre.
