Cork has seen many financial hardships over the years, but its love affair with opera has never wavered, Jo Kerrigan reports.

MOST of us come to opera in our mellower years. First nursery rhymes, then pop, rock and finally the beauty of great arias.

For impresario Barra Ó Tuama, though, it was opera all the way.
