Apple’s operating system to shake up phone world

THERE has been a fairly muted response to the release of the new iPhone 4S around the world and, consequently, not as much written as you might expect about the new operating system (OS) the phone will carry, iOS5.

This has all been exacerbated by the death of Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, the day after the phone’s launch on October 4. Most of the post-launch column inches have, understandably, been devoted to the loss of Jobs and the affect this might have on Apple as a company much more than what the arrival of the 4S will and will not achieve.
