Fergus Finlay: Why, as a grandad, I'll be voting Yes in March

Fergus Finlay: Why, as a grandad, I'll be voting Yes in March

Changes proposed to the Constitution in the upcoming referenda might not have an immediate impact for us, but they will for future generations.

I have a black T-shirt that I’m really fond of. Sadly, my family won’t allow me to wear it in public. It’s not just barred from State occasions or anything requiring formality, I’m not even allowed to wear it around the park.

So, mostly, I wear it in bed and when I’m having breakfast in the morning. When anyone in the family sees it, there’s a lot of raising the eyes to heaven and slightly condescending sighs. It’s what it says, I think, in big bold letters on the front, that engenders all these reactions.
