Far from perfect but Love Island can start an important discussion

I tried my best last year. I really did. To watch Love Island, that is. Four episodes in, I felt entirely revulsed by what I saw as its vapidity and celebration of ignorance, and gave up.
I think it was Hayley discussing Brexit and asking, “does that mean we won’t have any trees?” (still no clue what she was talking about here) and “so, would it be harder to go on holidays?... I love my holidays!” (don’t we all, Hayley) that put the final nail in the coffin for me.
