Inspirational - World Marathon Challenge

IN a world that, at this fleeting moment, seems such a very fertile ground for pessimism, how cheering, how very uplifting it is to be able to celebrate an extraordinary achievement, one that defied the odds and epitomised human resilience.

Inspirational - World Marathon Challenge

Over recent days Sinead Kane completed the World Marathon Challenge — that’s running a 42.2km marathon on each of the seven continents over seven days. Most of us would wilt at the seven continents in seven days hurdle. Most of us would certainly consider even the contemplation of running a marathon on each over seven days a symptom of something pretty like reckless ambition.

Add in the factor that Sinead is visually impaired — she has just 5% vision — and cannot run without the help of her guide runner John O’Regan and you can understand why she is the very first athlete to complete the seven-seven-seven marathon challenge.
