Kingdom invitation for Trump?: Say ‘no’, Kerry

This weekend, millions of women — and men — marched in America to lead an unprecedented wave of international protests against US president Donald Trump a day after his inauguration.
Kingdom invitation for Trump?: Say ‘no’, Kerry

Activists, outraged by Trump’s rhetoric and misogyny, spearheaded scores of marches in the US, and supportive rallies around the world, on Saturday.

Though organisers said they drew nearly 5m protesters, Trump’s Pinocchioesque spokesman will inevitably dismiss those figures, just as he dismissed those that contrasted the crowds at his poorly-attended inauguration to the far bigger ones at Barack Obama’s.

In denial of that outrage, Fianna Fáil’s Thomas McEllistrim has a motion before today’s Kerry County Council meeting calling for “a congratulations letter” to be sent to Trump, “and to also invite him to visit County Kerry”.

What pathetic deference to an utterly disrespectful and dishonest man. It’s a wonder McEllistrim hasn’t suggested that Trump be asked to judge the Rose of Tralee. This motion should be rejected and its sponsor should be ashamed.
