Trump threat to sue women: Embarrassing

EVEN by his spectacular standards, standards that seem to fall each and every day, Donald Trump’s assertion that all the women who made allegations of sexual misconduct against him are politically motivated liars would be laughable if it were not so serious — and apparently believed by many who will vote for him. 

Though that figure is falling, there is a sizeable rump of America so disheartened by establishment politics that they will vote for such an odious figure.

Trump has threatened post-election lawsuits against every one of the 10 women who accused him of sexual assault or other inappropriate behaviour since a 2005 tape revealing his “locker-room” behaviour was published.

We often, maybe even too often, decry our politicians but no European politician of any significance could survive these charges. That Trump does, even though the prospect of him being elected slips away, must embarrass civilised Americans of all political persuasions. It also sends a warning to the world of what might happen when politics fails the citizens it is supposed to protect and represent.
