WELL, I’ve just put my feet up for the first time in several days. The Ballymaloe Literary Festival of Food and Wine is over for another year.

Darina Allen is co-founder of the Ballymaloe Cookery School and more recently the Ballymaloe Organic Farm School in Shanagarry, East Cork.

It was quite an event with thousands of people converging on east Cork for the weekend.

Over 30 nationalities that we know of, and as one hassled visitor complained to me “there wasn’t a bed between here and Cork”.

<p>Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. Before last week’s local elections in the UK, Reform UK had 78 seats of those being contested. Last Thursday they multiplied that figure by a multiple of nearly 20, gaining 1,450 seats to add to the 78 they had.</p>
