Fun sex has quite a cost

Having listened to Katherine Zappone speaking on RTÉ on Sunday, it can no longer be denied that she has been completely blinded by the false promises and dangerous premises of the sexual revolution.

The sexual revolution promoted sexual licence. It promised fun and freedom for all who embraced its doctrines, but its promises are empty and impossible. Its premises are brutal and false.

What has it brought us? Fun? For some, for a brief period of time, but at a terrible cost. For many, terrible pain.

Freedom? There isn’t much freedom in a society that is growing sicker by the day, particularly where the health services cannot cope. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are now at epidemic level even among the very young.

Sexually transmitted diseases are just that — they are diseases that are transmitted from person to person through sexual promiscuity. We all know about HIV/AIDS. But there are many other STDs which are equally deadly as they cause a variety of devastating diseases, unbearable suffering and death. Many mental health problems have also been linked to sexual promiscuity as has obesity, substance abuse and suicide.

The sexual revolution has left too many victims in its wake, too many people, young and old, physically and mentally sick or dead, too many broken homes and hurting children. It is time for a counter-revolution. However, Ms Zappone is not the person to lead this as she has made it clear that she still believes in the promises and premises of the sexual revolution.
