Fr Mckevitts sin on this occasion was to publish an article regarding some US research claiming that the occasional slap to a bold child could be effective.

Fr Mckevitts paper, Alive, wasn’t advocating anything, but merely reporting on the research. Yet, to listen to the tone of the less than objective /balanced host, and that of the “mob” given air space to join in, one would have got the impression that Fr Mckevitt was proposing the reintroduction of slavery. Surely a taxpayer-funded station should have more weightier issues of concern than attacking a privately-funded free paper. It’s ironic that Fr Mckevitts journalistic integrity emerged enhanced from this encounter with the RTÉ Inquisition.
