Sinn Féin are not the leftist party they claim to be

For many years I wished to see Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil amalgamate to purge the legacy of the civil war.

However, when Fianna Fáil TD Willie O’Dea said it would elevate Sinn Féin to leaders of the opposition I changed my mind.

There must be a real danger that many people who vote for parties of the left would vote for Sinn Féin unaware that they were rightly described as national socialists by a Catholic priest on radio.
