The Methodists follow CRH

In his letter (Irish Examiner, January 21), Ciarán O’Raghallaigh urges us to believe that Cement Roadstone Holding (CRH) severed its connection with its Israeli subsidiary, not because of ethical considerations, but as part of some ‘multi-year streaming plan’.

The result, however, is the same. CRH has rid itself of a subsidiary that has collaborated with the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine, and that is welcome news for justice and for Palestinians.

I read that the United Methodist Church has declared Israel’s five largest banks off-limits to the church’s €20bn Pensions and Benefits Fund.
