Why the feminist silence on sex attacks

I am disappointed that Alison O’Connor used her column (Irish Examiner, January 8) as a glorified fan letter to Eamon Ryan.
Why the feminist silence on sex attacks

Surely a feminist like Ms O’Connor should be reflecting on the sex assaults on hundreds of young women throughout Germany on New Year’s Eve? Similar cases are now emerging in Austria and Finland.

If the perpetrators were indigenous European men I can imagine the condemnation that would rightly flow from her pen.

Why the silence ?

Maybe she agrees with Henriette Reker, Mayor of Cologne? The politically-correct Ms Reker advised German women to keep strangers at arm’s length “so that such things do not happen to them”.

Could you imagine the furore if a man gave women such despicable advice?
