Low rank arrest in relation to Bloody Sunday killings

Over 43 years later, on November 10, 2015, one of the soldiers involved, known as Lance Corporal J, was arrested by detectives from the PSNI and questioned about his involvement in these killings.

He has since been released on bail. The rank of lance corporal is the lowest military rank, just one step above that of private soldier.

The commanding officer of the regiment was awarded the Order of the British Empire by HM Government in October of 1972.
