Solidarity with Gazans means offering support
In no way would I or anyone in the solidarity movement ever dream of equating any situation they experienced with what the Palestinians have inflicted upon them by Israel.
The “narrative” was to contrast the treatment meted out by Israel with the welcome that Palestinians offer, in response to said letter.
Everything I wrote did occur.
Indeed, it is the advocates of Israel who usually resort to personalisation in an attempt to intimidate solidarity activists.
It is interesting to note however, that he acknowledges the “dire situation” of the Palestinians in Gaza, while neglecting to deal with the substantive issue it is Israel’s siege which is causing it.
While the occupation continues and Palestinians are subjected to apartheid, ethnic cleansing and war crimes, people all over the world will continue to try to support them, from offices, armchairs, flotillas and on the ground — that’s what solidarity means.
