We can box clever by using our own amenities

Your correspondent Cormac McConnell’s article”It’s Pure True”(Farming, October 15) about the country postman caught my attention. He correctly states that the green letter box on the village street could be as obsolete as a pair of rusting petrol pumps

We can box clever by using our own amenities

To avoid their demise and disappearance can I suggest that village folk use these post boxes regularly. instead of driving 3-4 Km to the main post office. If we do not use them we will lose them.

Also a thought for An Post, why not give these Victorian Post Boxes a lick of green paint in time for the 1916 commemorations.
