Wild Atlantic Way gave us a window to this beautiful country we inhabit

It is not often RTE makes a programme that is wonderful to watch as the Wild Atlantic Way with its three shows of 60 minutes each made by RTÉ Cork and shown the last thre Sundays on RTÉ One.

Wild Atlantic Way gave us a window to this beautiful country we inhabit

Its presenter, John Creedon, and the RTÉ crew took us on a road trip from Kinsale through Beara and the peaceful beauty of Dursey Island on to Kerry and up the West coast through counties like Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and to the final stop at Malin Head in Co. Donegal.

The show had high production values and was blessed with mostly excellent weather. The aerial videos were great. It showed what a beautiful country Ireland is and it was amazing to see the number of ancient round constructions or monuments on the high points of mountain areas in Sligo that can be better appreciated when seen from an overhead helicopter flight. Some looked like smaller versions of Newgrange.
