Recent articles by Shaun Connolly and Alison O’Connor regarding the scrapping of Lone Parents’ Allowance were admirable, points pertaining to this latest attack on vulnerable people by “Cruella” and the Labour Party were well made.

In addition, Shaun Connolly’s reference to remarks made by Alex White concerning the Clerys workers were totally correct.

But who was Minister of State at the Department of Social Welfare, when the infamous ‘Dirty Dozen’ were introduced in 1992? If my memory serves me correctly, it was the present Tánaiste. Ms Burton has ‘form’ .

During the 2011 election campaign, me and other trade unionists were encouraged to encourage our members to vote for the Labour Party, so shackles could be put on Fine Gael. One wonders what we will be asked to do in the forthcoming election?
