Church is learning morals from its followers

On Friday, Ireland held a referendum on same-sex marriage. It passed with a healthy majority and this raises a few questions.

Now that the Irish people have shown the Church their will for equality and love for every man, woman and child, surely that is more powerful than a Catholic faith, which has been instilled by fear?

If we are to accept that the Church may need a reality check, as Archbishop Diarmuid Martin suggested, then should we not ask ourselves the question: does the Church hold any relevance in our lives and in society, as we, the people, are now giving lessons in morals to the Church?
