Young gay people need to feel valued

As a primary school teacher and parent, I am strongly supporting a yes vote today.

In a 2013 survey of young LGBT people, the Department of Education found that 27% had self-harmed at least once, that over 50% had seriously thought of ending their lives and that just under 20% had attempted suicide.

We, as teachers, cannot ignore these findings.
