There is nothing worse than hiding your identity

I am 64 years of age and have reviewed my life many times. I decided, many years ago, that the worst catastrophe to befall me, in fact the catastrophe that had broken my life and made it difficult to survive, was to have been sent away to be educated at two boarding schools, for ten years of my young life.

There is nothing worse        than hiding your identity

But I now realise there are worse catastrophes.

I can only imagine how many people suffered greatly in my day (the 1950s and 1960s, and beyond), for just being who they are, gay.
